TUSCALOOSA, ALA. – Gardner-Webb lost to Alabama on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 89-60. Layken Cox led GWU in scoring as she finished the game with 13 points.
The Crimson Tide got out to an early lead in the first quarter and used another strong second to have the edge heading into the halftime break.
The second half saw the 'Dogs play closer, posting 21 points during each quarter with Alabama outscoring them by two during the final twenty minutes.
Cox led the team with 13 as
Ki'Ari Cain added 12 and
Alasia Smith had ten. Nine different GWU players that recorded a basket during the game. Gardner-Webb also had three players record a pair of steals on Sunday.
Alabama had every player that got minutes record a point on Sunday with Brittany Davis and Loyal McQueen leading the charge with 13.
The Runnin' Bulldogs now turn their attention to another road game with them facing Austin Peay on Thursday, November 1 at noon.
