FAIRFAX, Va. – Gardner-Webb rolled to a 27-10 win over Bloomsburg (Pa.) in its first dual match of the season and dropped a 22-10 decision to George Mason on Friday evening.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (1-1) got off to a fast start against Bloomsburg, getting a pin from Drew West at 125 pounds in the third quarter and a decision from Todd Carter at 133 for a quick 9-0 edge. Bloomsburg rallied with two wins over the next three weight classes, but Gardner-Webb rattled off four in a row to seal the deal.

RJ Mosley dominated at 165 pounds with an 18-3 tech fall (4:12) and Andrew Wilson took a 3-2 decision aover Anthony Deroas at 174. Jha'Quan Anderson rolled to an 11-3 major decision at 184 pounds and Sam Mora closed out the team scoring with a 5-1 decision.

West and Carter each took wins for Gardner-Webb against George Mason, with Carter taking an 11-2 major decision at 133. The Patriots countered with back-to-back decisions at 141 and 149 pounds and Peter Pappas took a 20-9 major decision at 157 pounds to turn the tide for the hosts.

Mosley stopped the rally with a 10-5 decision at 165 pounds, but the Patriots took decisions at the four heaviest weight classes for the final margin – winning at 184, 197 and 285 pounds by 3-2 scores.

Gardner-Webb will remain in Fairfax for the weekend, participating in the Arms Software Patriot Open on Sunday in the George Mason Fieldhouse. Action is set to begin at 10:00 am.
