
Women's Tennis Announces 2023 Spring Schedule

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Runnin' Bulldogs announced their schedule for the upcoming 2023 spring season. The slate has 17 matches with eight to be contested at the Webb Tennis Complex. The team seeks to continue its historic success from the 2022 season where they finished as the conference runner-up.
Gardner-Webb opens the year on Wednesday, February 1 hosting Lees-McRae. The 'Dogs will then hit the road to face Charlotte that Friday to close out their first week of action.
The team will return to Boiling Springs and play their next four matches there. The stretch includes GWU going against Limestone (2/10), Elon (2/12), Wofford (2/15), and Queens (2/22). February ends with the team traveling to play Western (2/25) followed by a trip to UNCG (3/1) to start the month of March.
Big South action begins with Gardner-Webb having a rematch of the 2022 Conference Tournament Finals as they go to face off against Charleston Southern on Saturday, March 4. The Bucs have won their past 19 matches against Big South opponents with their last loss coming in the 2019 conference tournament.
In the ensuing week, GWU will host Presbyterian (3/7) and Campbell (3/10) in another pair of key conference matches. The Camels finished the 2022 regular season in second place after a strong 7-1 mark in the league.
The 'Dogs then play a nonconference match against N.C. A&T on March 18 before the latter of the two, back-back-back stretches of conference matches. The second run of league games includes at Radford (3/18), at UNCA (3/21), and vs Longwood (3/25) as the conference finale. The regular season ends with trips to N.C. Central (4/1) and Davidson (4/7).
The 2023 Big South Women's Tennis Conference Tournament will be held from April 22-23 at Marion Diehl Park in Charlotte, N.C. The top four teams from the conference season will qualify for the two-day event with the winner earning the automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament.
