
Men's Tennis Releases 2023 Spring Schedule

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Men's Tennis released its schedule for the 2023 spring season on Monday morning featuring 23 total matches with 13 to be contested at the Webb Tennis Complex. The first 30 days of the team's schedule will see the 'Dogs compete 16 times preparing for a tough conference schedule that begins in March.
Head Coach Mike Griffith said, "We will be challenged with this schedule with the goal of peaking come conference play. The team and I know what we are capable of and now it is up to us to play at that level."
The season will start with a trio of road matches in the final days of January. This includes trips to Chattanooga (1/28), Kennesaw State (1/29), and Lenoir-Rhyne (1/31).
The Runnin' Bulldogs will have their home opener on Wednesday, February 1 hosting Lees-McRae. GWU then will play on a pair of back-to-back days at Charlotte (2/4) and vs Queens (2/5) followed by at Wingate (2/9) and at UNCW (2/10).
Gardner-Webb will travel to Spartanburg on Monday, February 13 to face Wofford before starting a seven-match homestand. They match up with North Georgia (2/14) to start it with a doubleheader against Belmont Abbey (2/15) the following day. The rest of the matches include UNCG (2/19), Elon (2/23), Limestone (2/24), and Georgia Southern (2/26).
Big South play will start in March as the 'Dogs will make the drive down to Clinton to face Presbyterian (3/3) followed by hosting Campbell (3/6). GWU will travel to Virginia twice during the month, once for a nonconference match at William & Mary on March 13 and at Radford on March 23.
The regular season will conclude with Gardner-Webb at home for their final three matches. They play conference foe Longwood on March 25 and Davidson in a nonconference battle on March 26. The final match of the year will be against UNC Asheville on April 6.
The Big South Tournament will be held on April 21-22 at Marion Diehl Park in Charlotte, N.C. with the top four teams earning a spot in the event's field. Last season saw GWU earn the #3 seed before losing to #6 N.C. A&T in the first round of the competition.
