
Women's Golf In Second After Opening Round At Bright's Creek Invitational

MILL SPRING, N.C. – Darkness halted play during the second 18 holes of the 2022 Bright's Creek Invitational Saturday, with host Gardner-Webb sitting in second place after the first round.
The 54-hole tournament is being held at the challenging, 7,435-yard (Par 72) Mountain Golf Course at Bright's Creek.
Jacksonville State led after the first round with a team score of 296 (+8), with four golfers among the top-5 individually after 18 holes.
Gardner-Webb shot a 311 as a team and is 15 strokes behind the Gamecocks. Kayla Dowell carded a 76 over her first 18 holes and sits in a tie for seventh individually. Dominika Burdova is tied for 10th after a round of 77.
Neza Siftar sits in 12th place with a round of 78, followed closely by Linnea Hofgren (80) in 15th and Gillian O'Brien (82) in 19th. Ellis Harvie played Saturday as an individual and finished the first around in a tie for 25th after shooting an 83.
Winthrop sits two strokes behind the Runnin' Bulldogs in third and Quinnipiac is fourth – just three strokes behind the 'Dogs.
Lehigh, Presbyterian and Catawba College round out the field.
The teams will conclude the second round on Sunday morning and will complete the tournament with a third round.
