HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Gardner-Webb shot its lowest round of the weekend on Sunday to move into seventh place at the 2022 Wofford Intercollegiate women's golf tournament.
The Runnin' Bulldogs (329-310-308-947) improved by 21 strokes over their first round on Saturday and edged Richmond and host Wofford by one stroke with the final round – which was the fourth-best round of any team on Sunday.
Princeton won the team title, outpacing second-place USC Upstate by 13 strokes. A total of 16 teams participated in the tournament, which was played on the Moss Creek Golf Club course on Hilton Head.
Gardner-Webb was led by
Dominika Burdova, who finished eighth individually. Burdova (78-71-74-223) shot her best score during the second round on Saturday, finishing those 18 holes at 1-under par.
Burdova sank eight birdie putts during the tournament.
Linnea Hofgren (85-76-76-237), Neza Siftar (85-79-78-242),
Gillian O'Brien (86-87-80-253) and
Kayla Dowell (81-84-89-254) rounded out Gardner-Webb's group of competitors during the 54-hole event.
Gardner-Webb will head back to the Low Country next week to participate in the 2022 Golfweek Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate at Pawley's Island on March 28.
