BOONE, N.C. – RJ Mosley rolled through the field at 165 pounds to win a Southern Conference title Saturday, as Gardner-Webb finished fourth in the team standings at the 2022 SoCon Wrestling Championship.

Mosley earned the league's automatic berth to the 2022 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships with his victory – his second trip to NCAAs in as many years. The Oklahoma City, Okla., junior improved to 18-6 overall on the season with his three victories on Saturday and will make the trip to Detroit, Mich., for the national tournament on March 17 at Little Caesars Arena.

Mosley started his morning with an 8-0 major decision over Campbell's Troy Nation and held off Appalachian State's Will Formato for a 5-2 decision in the semifinals. That set up a clash with Chattanooga's Andrew Nicholson.

Mosley took a 4-3 decision over Nicholson to take the individual title.

The effort paced a Gardner-Webb contingent that also saw Jha'Quan Anderson advance to the title bout at 184 pounds and earn a second-place finish. The Runnin' Bulldogs also saw Anthony Perrine bounce back for a third-place finish at 197 pounds and had fourth-place individual finishes from Todd Carter (133), Trevon Majette (141), Brandon Bright (149) and Taylor Parks (157).

Gardner-Webb finished with 51 team points, to finish behind Chattanooga and ahead of The Citadel in the team standings. Campbell captured the team trophy and host Appalachian State finished second.
