DETROIT – Gardner-Webb's RJ Mosley saw his name appear on the bracket at 165 pounds during Wednesday night's Division I Wrestling Selection Show, and will begin his journey in the Motor City on March 17.
The Oklahoma City, Okla., native is seeded 22nd in the bracket and will face off with Northern Illinois' Izzak Olejnik (22-4) in the opening round Thursday morning. Mosley will be making his second appearance at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships – this time as the Southern Conference champion at 165 pounds.
Mosley posted an 18-6 overall mark this season and made a big splash this past January with a impressive performance at the prestigious Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, Tenn. That set the stage for another strong run through the SoCon and eventually a 3-0 mark and individual title at the SoCon Championships in Boone.
Mosley enters the NCAAs this season ranked No. 20 in the final RPI and inside the top-30 in the final coaches' rankings.
He is one of 18 Southern Conference wrestlers who were announced as part of the championship brackets on Wednesday night.
