Dias Named Big South Player of the Week for Second Time in 2022

CHARLOTTE – The Big South Conference announced the winners of the final winners of their weekly awards with GWU's Eduardo Dias being named the Player of the Week.
Dias won his singles and doubles matches in the Runnin' Bulldogs' 4-3 win at UNC Ashville last Wednesday, the team's last regular-season match of 2022. He clinched the doubles point for GWU from the #3 court with a 7-6 (3) decision.
In singles, his match was deciding point of the afternoon as the score stood at 3-3. He prevailed in it in three sets winning 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (3). In the final set, Dias won five match points when he was down 3-5 and 5-6 to keep the team's chances alive.
This win clinched the #3 seed in the Men's Tennis Championship for Gardner-Webb. It marks the third consecutive that GWU has finished the regular season with a top-three finish in the league, a first in school history.
This is the third time a Gardner-Webb player has been named Player of the Week this year. This is Dias' second time earning the award this year.
The Runnin' Bulldogs play their next match on Thursday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m. hosting #6 North Carolina A&T in the first round of the 2022 Big South Men's Tennis Championship.
