NINETY SIX, S.C. – Four Gardner-Webb golfers lowered their scores from the day before as the Runnin' Bulldogs completed the second round of the 2022 Big South Conference Women's Golf Championship.
Gardner-Webb shaved 10 strokes off of their opening day score as a team and sits just 10 strokes out of the top-4 entering Friday's final round. GWU finished the day in seventh place behind UNC Asheville and Longwood.
High Point shot a 297 to seize first place, sitting one stroke in front of the second-place duo of Campbell and USC Upstate. The top four teams at the end of Friday's third round will advance to Saturday's match play round.
Freshman standout
Neza Siftar carded a 73 on Thursday to pull into a tie for 10th place individually with teammate
Dominika Burdova – with each golfer sitting at 150 after 36 holes. Burdova shot a 74 on Thursday, two strokes better than her opening day effort.
Linnea Hofgren trimmed three shots off her opening round with a 75 on Thursday and sits in 19th place.
Kayla Dowell and
Gillian O'Brien each helped Gardner-Webb stay within striking distance of the top four, with Dowell firing a 79 and O'Brien an 81 on Thursday.
The teams will begin Friday's shotgun start at 8:00 am at the Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor. The 6,297-yard (Par 72) layout is home to the league's championship again this season.
Gardner-Webb will tee off at 8:55 am and will be paired with Radford and North Carolina A&T.
