Gardner-Webb Wraps Up Final Round At 2022 Big South Women's Golf Championship

NINETY SIX, S.C. – Gardner-Webb finished sixth at the 2022 Big South Conference Women's Golf Championship, completing the final round of stroke play on Friday.

The Runnin' Bulldogs finished just six shot out of a tie for fourth place and seven shots out of third. The top four teams advance to Saturday's match play semifinal round at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor.

Gardner-Webb's Kayla Dowell had the hot hand on Friday, leading the way with a round of 72. Dowell had a pair of birdies on the back nine and finished the tournament in a tie for 24th individually,

Veteran Linnea Hofgren also played at a high level in the final round. She sank four birdie putts and finished the day with a 73, moving into a tie for eighth place. 

Dominika Burdova (76-74-78-228) was two shots back in 14th and Neza Siftar (77-73-80-230) finished in a tie for 21st. Gillian O'Brien lowered her score on Friday and finished 39th.

Campbell won the team title by 12 strokes over USC Upstate and Anna Nordfors won medalist honors for the Fighting Camels. Charleston Southern finished third and UNC Asheville moved into a tie with High Point for fourth after 54 holes.
