GWU Season Ends in Big South Tournament First Round Loss to N.C. A&T on Friday

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – #6 North Carolina A&T clinched their spot in the Big South Tournament Semifinals behind a 4-3 decision over #3 Gardner-Webb. The loss marks the end of the 2022 season for the Runnin' Bulldogs.  
 
The Aggies had to forfeit the doubles point to start the day due to a late arrival, giving the 'Dogs an early 1-0 advantage.
 
Singles started with the N.C. A&T storming out to straight set wins quickly in three out of the first four matches to conclude. The Aggies won on courts 1, 2 and 3 to get ahead 3-2 overall.
 
Alex Lepine won his match at the position #5. This came in straight sets 7-5, 6-1, providing GWU their second point of the day. After this, Sebastian Harris overcame a first set loss to win his 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 on the #4 court to tie the match at 3 overall.
 
The day came down to the result at #6. Connor Enslin came back from a 1-5 scoreline in the first set to win it 7-6. He dropped the final two sets 3-6, 0-6 for the Aggies' Ian Pederson to clinch the team's win.
 
North Carolina A&T moves on to play #2 Radford in the Semifinals of the Big South Tournament Saturday, March 23.
