Gardner-Webb Wraps Up Competition At UNC Charlotte Invite

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Runnin' Bulldogs wrapped up day two of the UNC Charlotte Invitational, which was showcased by several podium finishes and a new relay all-time record.
 
In the men's shot put, Nate Wonsley placed seventh by hitting a mark of 14.80 meters.
 
As for the men's javelin throw, Eliel Cuesta placed eighth by hitting a mark of 36.74 meters.
 
In the women's 4X100-meter relay, the A squad placed fifth by clocking in a time of 49.54 seconds at the finish line.
 
As for the men's 1,500-meter run, Ryan Morita placed third (4:06.43) and Garry Ankrom finished in ninth (4:48.17).
 
Camile Sykes placed second in the women's 1,500-meter run, as she clocked in a time of 5:07.63 (Personal Best) at the finish line.
 
Jaden Finch placed second in the women's shot put by hitting a distance of 13.37 meters.
 
In the women's javelin, Khalilah Conway took sixth-place by hitting a mark of 20.26 meters.
 
Chase Thornhill claimed gold in the men's 400-meter dash, clocking in a time of 47.03 seconds at the finish. Sean Amour (48.36) placed fourth and James Hinton (49.21, Personal Best) placed sixth.  
 
As for the women's 400-meter dash, Amira Austin (59.37) placed fourth and Alena Ivanov (1:01.82) took eighth-place.
 
Joe Waller took first for Gardner-Webb in the men's 800-meter run, clocking in a time of 1:56.40 (Personal Best) at the finish. Mark Mellon (2:14.27) also ran a personal best time.
 
In the women's 800-meter dash, Camile Sykes (2:24.85) took third overall, Teryn Bour (2:25.20, Personal Best) followed in fourth, and Brooklyn Tretter (2:29.38, Personal Best) took sixth.
 
Sarianna Miranda-Rosado (25.61) and Amira Austin (25.86) both ran personal bests in the women's 200-meter dash.
 
In the men's 4X400-meter relay, the squad of Hinton, Thornhill, Amour, and Sastre took third overall. Their time of 3:12.21 is two seconds faster than the top program record that they set just a week ago.
 
In the women's 4X400-meter relay, the squad of Reece, Bour, Tretter, and Payne took second with a time of 4:24.84 at the finish line.
 
Track and field will be back in action Monday, May 9th, as the team is set to compete in the 2022 Outdoor Big South Conference Championship.
