Women's Soccer Announces 2022 Schedule

BOILING SPRINGS – Head Coach Mike Varga announced on Thursday the women's soccer schedule for the team's upcoming 2022 campaign, a 20-match slate featuring 13 set to be played at the home confines of Greene-Harbison Stadium in Boiling Springs.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs will start action by hosting an exhibition against Liberty on Saturday, August 13 with a 1 p.m. start. The GWU regular season will then officially open on August 18 at 7 p.m. in Johnson City, Tennessee facing ETSU.
 
The team's official home opener will be on Sunday, August 21 at 1 p.m. as Alabama State travels to The Webb, while the month of August ends with the GWU traveling to play both Davidson (8/25) and The Citadel (8/28) on the road in the Carolinas.
 
Gardner-Webb plays its next seven matches at home, all within a 21-day span. The series features Jacksonville State (9/1), Wofford (9/4), Elon (9/8), Charlotte (9/11), Allen (S.C.) (9/16), and S.C. State (9/18). This group of matches will then ultimately conclude by playing host to Charleston Southern for the Big South Conference opener on Wednesday, September 21 at 7 p.m.
 
Following the long homestand, the Runnin' Bulldogs will hit the road for their last two competitions of September, traveling to UNC Asheville on Saturday, September 24 and Longwood on Wednesday, September 28.
 
The month of October will begin with Gardner-Webb hosting Campbell, last year's regular-season conference champion, on the first day of the month. Following that game, GWU travels to Rock Hill to play Winthrop on October 8.
 
The regular season wraps up versus Presbyterian (10/12), at High Point (10/15), versus Radford (10/22), and versus USC Upstate (10/26). The team's Senior Night match has yet to be announced.
 
The Big South Tournament will feature the top four teams from the regular season in 2022, two less than the 2021 edition. The event will be contested at Matthews Sportsplex with the semifinals on November 3 and championship match set for November 6 at 1 p.m.
