Gardner-Webb Swimming Adds Laryssa McMartin As Assistant Coach

BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb swimming announced the addition of Laryssa McMartin as an assistant coach on Thursday in advance of the 2022-2023 season.
McMartin joins the Runnin' Bulldogs after spending one season as head coach at Sterling College in Kansas.
"We are really excited to get Laryssa to campus to work with our program," said head coach Mike Blum. "She brings the right energy and commitment that we are looking for. Laryssa's experience as a head coach will only benefit our program and we are really excited to get to work."
The Cheyenne, Wyo., native helped Sterling to a strong season in 2021-2022, mentoring four All-America swimmers. She served as Associate Head Coach at Sterling for one season before moving into the head coaching role.
McMartin has experience coaching on the club level and as an assistant at the College of St. Mary and as an assistant at the University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky. During her time in the Bluegrass State, McMartin helped the Patriots to a third-place finish on the women's side at the NAIA National Championships and a seventh-place finish on the men's side.
She is a 2017 graduate of Grace University in Omaha, Neb., with a degree in physical education and biblical studies. She earned a masters of science in coaching from Cumberlands in 2021.
