CLEMSON, S.C. – Men's Tennis completed a tournament this past weekend at Clemson University with
Numa Lemieux-Monette and
Alex Lepine highlighting the individual performances from the weekend. Overall, the team collected 11 wins at the event.
"I am so happy to see Numa and Alex playing so well right now, what a difference a year of collegiate tennis experience can make," said Head Coach
Mike Griffith. "They've made big steps in their games since they first stepped onto campus last fall."
Lemieux-Monette won his draw during the weekend, knocking off four different competitors during the event. In his first and final matches, he needed a third set to claim the decision.
Lepine dropped his first match on Friday in three sets but rebounded to win each of his consolation matches. In his following match, he won it in three sets, and then defeated Ashe Ray of Wofford in straight sets.
Connor Enslin won two matches during the event, each needing a third set to decide the winner.
John Spring won his first match of the tournament, defeating Teo Cariov of Presbyterian 1-6, 6-4, 10-8. He faced fellow Runnin' Bulldog
Chrisjan Van Wyk in the second round with Van Wyk winning 6-4, 6-2. In the first round, Van Wyk knocked off former GWU standout
Breno Plentz 6-4, 3-6, 10-3
Gardner-Webb will be back in action at UNCG from September 16-18 for a Fall Invite Tournament as the team's final preparation before their ITA Regionals in late October.
