
Dylan Phillips Named Big South Freshman Runner of the Week

CHARLOTTE – The Big South Conference announced the weekly winners for their cross-country awards on Wednesday afternoon. The league selected Gardner-Webb's Dylan Phillips as the Freshman of the Week after his blistering time on Saturday at the Carolina Challenge.
In his first collegiate race, Phillips ran the fastest 5K (16:45) on the team and finished second overall the event hosted in Camden, S.C. Phillips' finish helped the team to a fourth-place finish at the competition.
This marks the second consecutive season that a male runner from GWU has received this honor from the conference. Last season, Ryan Morita was named it on October 13, the first from Gardner-Webb since Mike McClay in 2013.
The Runnin' Bulldogs have their next race on September 17 at Winthrop with the men competing in their first 8K of the season.
