BOILING SPRINGS – Gardner-Webb jumped out to a big early lead and captured a 22-13 win over Bellarmine in Southern Conference wrestling action Friday night in Paul Porter Arena.

The Runnin' Bulldogs led 12-0 after three bouts, following decisions by Drew West at 125 pounds and Todd Carter at 133. The momentum continued at 141 pounds, as Zach Price sprinted to a 6-1 lead early in the second period and pinned Chase Hall with 44 seconds left in the second for six team points.

Bellarmine took decisions at 149 and 157 pounds, but No. 25 Ryan Mosley halted that rally with a 5-2 decision over Cole Nance at 165 pounds. Mosley trailed 1-0 after an escape by Nance in the first period, but opened the third period with a quick reversal in just seven seconds to take the lead. Another escape led to another takedown and riding time provided the final margin.

A major decision by Bellarmine's Devan Hendricks at 174 pounds pulled the Knights within 15-10, but Jha'Quan Anderson cruised to a 4-0 win at 184 pounds and Sam Mora clinched the victory with a 13-4 major decision at 197 pounds.

The Runnin' Bulldogs will be back in action at home on Sunday, hosting Army and Queens in Paul Porter Arena. The Royals and Black Knights will wrestle at 11:00 am, followed by Gardner-Webb vs. Army at 1:00 pm and Gardner-Webb vs. Queens at 3:00 pm.
