BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Gardner-Webb opened Southern Conference action on Saturday afternoon, falling 25-12 at Campbell. GWU also dropped a 37-6 dual to national powerhouse Nebraska.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (1-6, 0-1 SoCon) saw No. 29 RJ Mosley go 2-0 on the day, with a 3-2 (SV-2) win over Dom Baker in the opener of the Campbell match and a 4-2 (SV-1) win over No. 25 Bubba Wilson in the opening match vs. Nebraska.

Campbell rallied with four consecutive wins in the opener to go up 15-3 after five bouts. Drew West stopped that run with a 6-5 decision at 125 pounds, but the Camels rallied again with wins at 133, 141 and 149. 

Tyler Brignola captured six team points with a forfeit win at 157 pounds to close out the match.

After Mosley's win at 165 against the  No. 17 Cornhuskers, Gardner-Webb ran into three consecutive top-25 individual foes and Nebraska opened up a 26-3 lead with four-straight wins.

Todd Carter came up with a big win at 133 pounds to stem the tide, beating No. 33 Boo Dryden with a 3-2 decision. Nebraska rebounded with a 4-0 win by No. 5 Brock Hardy at 141 pounds, a 5-2 decision by Blake Cushing at 149 pounds and a 16-1 tech fall by top-ranked Peyton Robb at 157 pounds.

EIght of Nebraska's 10 competitors on Saturday came into the day ranked nationally.

Gardner-Webb will begin a six-match homestand on Friday, hosting Bellarmine (Ky.) in another Southern Conference battle at 6:00 pm (ESPN+).
