
Gardner-Webb Swimming Complete Day Two of Gamecock Invite

The Runnin’ Bulldogs best their Day 1 totals in top-3 finishers
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb swimming team continued with Day 2 of the Gamecock Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina on Thursday, November 16 in the Carolina Natatorium.
South Carolina's Invite includes teams such as: UNCW, Georgia Southern, Vanderbilt, UNF, University of Tampa, and familiar foe Milligan University.
Nine 'Dawgs finished in the top three of their events/heats to help Gardner-Webb on Day 2. The men dominated the 100-yard breaststroke starting with junior Logan Butner leading the men with a 1st place finish at 56.15 while junior Austin Wheeler recorded a 3rd place finish in the same heat. Sophomore Justin Bender finished 2nd in heat A of the 100-yard Breaststroke at 54.55 and junior Ryan Taylor picked up a 3rd place finish in heat C with a time of 58.65.
In the 100-yard Backstroke, senior Landon Clark (2nd) and freshman Davis Adcock (3rd) rounded out the top-3 in their heat with times of 50.48 and 50.63, respectfully. Junior Brady Bower finished 2nd in his heat for the backstroke with a time of 54.02.
Senior Garrett Despres recorded a third-place finish in heat B of the 200-yard Freestyle at 1:41.83 while freshman Paul Warnagiris completed the 400-yard IM with a third-place finish and a time of 4:07.83.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will hit the pool for the final day of the Gamecock Invite tomorrow on Friday, Nov. 17 with preliminary sessions beginning at 10:00 a.m. and finals sessions starting at 4:00 p.m.
