WEST POINT, N.Y. – Todd Carter and Zach Price both picked up third place finishes as Gardner-Webb finished seventh at the Army Black Knight Invite on Sunday, Nov. 19.
 
Competing at 141 pounds, Carter opened his time in West Point defeating Tyler Morris of Army 10-7 before knocking off Jordan Hamdan of Michigan State by major decision 13-5. Carter dropped his next match by 8-0 major decision to Tyler Kasak of Penn State but took home third place by a narrow 1-0 margin in a decision win over Rich Treanor of Army. 
 
Price finished third in the 149-pound weight class, opening his day with a 9-7 decision over Braden Stauffenberg of Michigan State. Price then took a 4-0 decision over Benji Alanis of Northern Colorado before falling to Matthew Williams of Army 6-5. Price took third place after Jacob Butler of Rutgers had to forfeit.
 
Jha'Quan Anderson continued his strong start to the season, finishing fourth in the 184-pound bracket. Anderson knocked off Andrew Donahue of Northern Colorado 8-3 but dropped a 4-2 decision to Chase Kranitz of Buffalo. Anderson fell in the third-place match 1-0 to Jacob Nolan of Binghamton.
 
As a team, Gardner-Webb finished seventh overall earning 42 total points. The Runnin' Bulldogs finished ahead of Brown, Buffalo and Long Island. Army West Point took home the team championship with 121.5 points.
 
Gardner-Webb will now prepare for their first dual and home match of the season, hosting Kent State and Buffalo inside Paul Porter Arena on Saturday, Dec. 2. Action begins on the mats at 12:00 P.M. against Kent State with the match against Buffalo to follow at 2:00 P.M.
