SAINT HELENA, S.C. - Neza Siftar closed out the fall season for Gardner-Webb women's golf, winning the individual championship at the Fripp Island Preview on Monday, Nov. 6.

Siftar won the championship by two strokes, shooting a one-under 143 two-round score at the Fripp Island Ocean Creek course. The Slovenian shot a two-under 70 in the opening round before carding a one-over 73 in the second. Siftar shot a two-under, 4.80 average score on par fives, tied for the best score on the longest holes on the course. Her eight birdies led the entire field. The junior opened her play at the tournament with four birdies through the front-nine.

It is Siftar's second career individual championship. Siftar won the individual championship at the 2023 Bright Creek Women's Invite with a five-over 221 three round score (80, 73, 68).

As a team, Gardner-Webb finished fourth overall, shooting a 44-over 620 two-round score. The Runnin' Bulldogs led the field with 22 birdies. 

Katelyn Griggs finished tied for ninth, recording a 13-over 157 two-round score. Griggs shot a four-over 76 in the first round, and a nine-over 81 in the second. Dowell, along with Georgia Barr Kayla Dowell, each tallied four birdies.

Dowell finished tied for 16th with a 16-over 160 two-round score. Barr finished right behind her teammate at 18th with a 17-over 161 two-round score. 

Anna Snoblova tied for 21st with a 20-over 164 two-round score, while Julia Buchgeher finished 23rd with a 22-over 166 two-round score. Bekka Mull finished 29th with a 28-over 172 two-round score, while Vileska Gelpi with a 34-over 178 two-round score.

USC Upstate won the team championship with a 25-over, 601 two-round score. 

GWU will now prepare for the 2024 spring season. The Runnin' Bulldogs will open the spring campaign, hosting the Bright Creek's Intercollegiate on Feb. 24 in Mill Springs, N.C.
