CLINTON, S.C. – Gardner-Webb dropped a tight decision Sunday at Presbyterian, falling 19-18 in a Southern Conference road match.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (5-10, 3-4 SoCon) were down a pair of starters on Sunday night,  but battled back from an early hole to lead 18-15 with one bout remaining. The Blue Hose picked up the win by virtue of a 13-1 major decision by Malcolm Wiley at 285 pounds.

The hosts jumped out to a 9-0 lead after the first two weight classes, getting an 8-2 decision from Dominic Chavez and a pin from Jacob Brasseur to open up that margin.

Zach Price rallied with a 13-8 win at 141 pounds, before the Blue Hose picked up a tight 3-1 decision at 149 pounds to go up 12-3.

The Runnin' Bulldogs mounted their rally from there, getting an 8-0 major decision from Tyler Brignola at 157 pounds to pull within 12-7 and an important five points on a tech fall (18-3) by RJ Mosley to tie the team score.

A decision from Zach Wells put Presbyterian back up 15-12 after the match at 174, but the 'Dogs would not go away quietly. Jha'Quan Anderson came through with a clutch 5-2 decision at 184 pounds to knot the team score again and Samuel Mora followed with a 5-0 decision that gave the Runnin' Bulldogs an 18-15 lead heading into the final bout.

Gardner-Webb will be back in action on Wednesday at Duke (6:00 pm). GWU returns home Saturday, hosting Davidson at Noon for Senior Day.
