Runnin' Bulldogs Finish Day Three of CCSA Championships

KNOXVILLE, TENN. – Gardner-Webb continued to post solid performances in day three of the CCSA Championships. Through 30 events, the men's team sits in third place with 337.5 points while the women have compiled 242 points and are in ninth place.
Brady Fields set the pace for the evening finals with a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 48.62. Landon Clark and Bryan Dunne each made the finals as well to score points for the team. In the women's 100-yard backstroke, Hannah Routh and Kayla Smith made the "C" finals to score for GWU.
Next up was the finals for the men's 100-yard breaststroke. Gardner-Webb placed three into the "A" finals of the event with Justin Bender, Griffin Egolf, and Austin Wheeler combining to score 36 points. Zach Bennett qualified for the "B" finals to and swam a 57.78. Anna Yeater came away with a few points in the "C" finals for the women's side of the event.
The event that followed was the 200-yard butterfly with Sam Ospina winning the "B" finals with a 1:51.36. Belle Whitfield finished 13th overall for GWU with Emma Maust also making it through to the last round of the event.
The day ended with the 800-yard freestyle relay. The men's team finished in 4th with Theo Drescher, Sam Goldey, Hayden Carpenter, and Garrett Desperes touching at 6:45.40. The women's team of Hailey Williams, Emma Maust, Anna Frye, Sara-Michael Jann had a 7:34.40 to close out the day in 9th.
Tomorrow will be the last of the four day event with coverage of prelims to begin at 10:00 a.m. and finals to begin at 6:00 p.m.
