BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb women's basketball returns home Saturday afternoon at 4:00 pm to host UNC Asheville and cap Hoopscoming Week in Paul Porter Arena.
The Runnin' Bulldogs (23-4, 15-0 Big South) are riding the nation's third-longest win streak in women's basketball and have a chance Saturday to become the first program in Big South history to start a league campaign with a 16-0 mark.
Gardner-Webb will also honor its women's basketball alumni and trailblazers as part of Hoopscoming Week: Legacy and Legends on Saturday. Several Hall of Famers and members of Gardner-Webb's historic first team will be recognized before and during the game in conjunction with the celebration of the 50th anniversary if Title IX.
GWU will look to complete the season sweep of UNC Asheville (10-16, 6-9 Big South) after topping the Bulldogs 76-45 on the road in mid-January. The Runnin' Bulldogs lead the all-time series by a 26-13 margin.

Alex Simmons' team has won each of its last 10 games by double digits and clinched the Big South's outright regular season title with its win at Winthrop on Wednesday night.
Jhessyka Williams continues her push as the Big South's Player of the Year favorite – and for All-America status. The Augusta, Ga., native is averaging 18.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game this season and is within striking distance of 2,000 career points.

Lauren Bevis netted a team-high 21 points on 6-of-10 shooting Wednesday night at Winthrop and is averaging a strong 15.0 points per game this season.
Alasia Smith is close behind at 13.6 points and 8.7 rebounds per game – with point guard
Ki'Ari Cain having a career-best season with 10.4 points and a league-best 4.8 assists per game.
One of the nation's top teams at disrupting opponents and forcing turnovers, Gardner-Webb has been effective in transition and is averaging a healthy 75.6 points per game.
UNC Asheville is led offensively by McKinley Brooks-Sumpter (12.6 ppg) this season and is among the Big South's better defensive teams – allowing only 61.8 points per game.
