YOUNGSVILLE, LA – The Runnin' Bulldogs wrapped up the Mardi Gras Mambo Sunday against Louisiana Tech from the Youngsville Sports Complex.
Louisiana Tech took an early lead, scoring a run in the first inning. They added three runs in the fourth to make it 4-0.
Kasey Fava hit a single in the sixth and
Adrienne Visintine followed her up with a double down the right field line to put the 'dogs on the board.
Louisiana Tech answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth and capped off the game's scoring at 6-1.
Andrea Lyon and Fava both hit 2-3 on the day with two singles each. Fava also stole a base in the first inning.
Kiara Kennedy and Visintine had the other two hits for the Runnin' Bulldogs. Kennedy hit a single and Visintine's double was the only RBI for Gardner-Webb.
Lyon was the starting pitcher and was replaced by
Kalyn Kyle in the third inning. Kyle pitched two innings and then
Alli Stidham came in in the fifth. Lyon struck out three batters and Stidham one.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will come home and face Furman Tuesday in a doubleheader from Brinkley Softball Stadium. First pitch for game one is set for 3:00 P.M. on ESPN+.
