GREENVILLE, S.C. – Gardner-Webb collected their tenth win of the year as they defeated Furman 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Runnin' Bulldogs dropped the decision on court #3 to start the afternoon, but were able to overcome it to win the doubles point. On the #2 court,
Numa Lemieux-Monette and
Victor Putter won 6-3. The point was clinched in a tiebreaker from the topflight with
Eduardo Dias and
Chrisjan Van Wyk winning 7-6 (3).
Furman equalized the match with their lone singles win of the day in the first to conclude at position #3. Gardner-Webb went on to win the remaining five matches to get the decision.
Kim Niethammer moved up a spot and played at #5 today and got a 6-0, 6-1 win from the new position. The next pair to complete were
Alex Lepine at #2 which was followed by Dias getting the clinch. Lepine won his 6-3, 6-4 while Dias got the decision 7-5, 6-3.
Sebastian Harris was the next to have his conclude from court #6 where he won in straight sets 6-3, 7-5. Lemieux-Monette rounded out the day's action with a three set, comeback victory 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 from position #4.
The Runnin' Bulldogs return to action on Sunday in their conference opener as they will play at Presbyterian with a first serve scheduled for noon. The Blue Hose were the preseason favorites in the league and received a trio of first place votes from the league's head coaches.
