
Women's Tennis Sweeps Big South Weekly Awards; Roslund and Le Grange Receive Honors

CHARLOTTE – Gardner-Webb swept the Big South's weekly awards for women's tennis on Wednesday afternoon. Emilia Roslund was selected as the Player of the Week while Cayline Le Grange was named the Freshman of the Week.
Last week, the Runnin' Bulldogs played a pair of matches with the first being a 6-1 win over Queens on Wednesday in Boiling Springs while the second was a narrow 4-3 loss at Western Carolina on Sunday.
Roslund went a perfect 4-0 during the week collecting two wins each in singles and doubles. She had the opening decision in doubles against Queens in the topflight 6-1 and scored the third team point in singles from the #2 court with a 6-1, 6-3 final.
Roslund clinched the doubles point on Sunday at Western Carolina and had the first singles match to conclude with a score of 6-0, 6-2 from position #2 for the team's early 2-0 edge.
Le Grange went 3-1 on the week and a perfect 2-0 in singles play. She started the week with a 6-3 win on court #3 in doubles against Queens to clinch the point and won 6-0, 6-3 in singles on court #6 to give GWU their fourth point of the afternoon and seal the team's victory.
Le Grange dropped her decision in doubles on Sunday, however the team still won the point from it. She had a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win in singles from fight #6 for the first back-to-back victories of her career as well.
Gardner-Webb will be back in action on Saturday as they will play three conference matches in a span of 7 seven days. It starts at Charleston Southern (3/4), vs Presbyterian (3/7), and vs Campbell (3/10). A trip to N.C. A&T on 3/15 separates that stretch of Big South matches from the second half of them which include at Radford (3/18), at UNC Asheville (3/21), and vs Longwood (3/25).
