WILMINGTON, N.C. – Gardner-Webb dropped their season finale at UNC Wilmington on Thursday afternoon by a 4-2 score.
"Today we faced a tough opponent, and this will help going into the tournament," said Head Coach
Mike Griffith. "We are very good in every position and are excited to begin tournament play."
Gardner-Webb won the first doubles match of the day as they won in the topflight 6-2.
Eduardo Dias and
Chrisjan Van Wyk paired up for the win. UNCW got the victory on court #3 and won in a tiebreaker at #2 to get the first point of the day.
Dias went 2-0 on the day as he won in straight sets for the first decision of the day. He won from position #1, 7-6 (4), 6-3. The Seahawks then won the next two matches that concluded with each going to three sets. They won on courts #2 and #3.

Sebastian Harris got the team's second point of the day as he won 6-0, 6-7 (3), 6-4 on court #6. UNCW clinched the victory as they ended
Kim Niethammer's win streak on court #4. The decision at position #5 went unfinished as they were in a third set.
Gardner-Webb will return to action after an eight-day layoff as they prepare for the Big South Conference Tournament. The semifinals will be contested on Friday, April 21 with the seedings announced later tonight for the event.
