GREENWOOD, S.C. – Day Two of the Big South Women's Golf Championship was completed on Thursday with Gardner-Webb in a tie for second with Campbell with each at +40. They trail High Point by four strokes with the Panthers sitting at +36 in Greenwood, S.C. at the Links at Stoney Point.
In the first round, GWU combined to fire a 303 and sit in a tie for first with the Panthers.
Linnea Hofgren was in a tie for first after the first 18 holes at -1.
Neza Siftar also had a great day as she finished with a 75 to be in a tie for fifth.
During the second round, Siftar had the lowest round on the team with a 76 and held strong to stay in a tie for fifth heading into the final round of stroke play. Each of the players she entered the day tied also fired a 76 to remain deadlocked but now has a total score of +7. Hofgren shot a 79 and now sits in fourth individually.
Through the two days of play,
Kayla Dowell has put together back-to-back rounds of 78 to be in a tie for 16
th with a +12.
Katelyn Griggs and
Georgia Barr have rounded out the GWU performers with Griggs tied for 25
th at +15 and Barr at +17.
In the player leaderboard, HPU's Sarah Kahn leads all players with a +2 with rounds of 72 and 74. She is two strokes clear of second in Beem Pabsimma of USC Upstate with a +4 who has a margin of one on third, Danielle Suh of High Point as well.
GWU is ten strokes clear of advancing to the match play round on Saturday as only the Top-Four move on. Longwood is currently in fourth at +44 with Charleston Southern close behind at +50. Rounding out the standings are UNC Asheville (+53), USC Upstate (+59), Radford (+60), Presbyterian (+64) and Winthrop (DNF).
