CHARLOTTE – Gardner-Webb had four players earn All-Conference honors from the Big South on Thursday afternoon. Emilia Roslund was the lone player named to the First Team with a trio being selected to the Second Team all for singles.
Roslund earned spots on the squads for both singles and doubles to highlight her impressive season. She led the team with 11 victories in singles play with nine of them coming in straight sets and then finished 4-2 within conference play for singles. She was also named to the All-Academic Team with a 4.0 GPA in marketing through her first two years in Boiling Springs.
Gardner-Webb's top team in doubles of Roslund and Manon Delsol was the lone pairing to get All-Conference recognition this season. They were 6-2 overall, the team-high, and had a 3-1 mark against conference opponents.
In addition to her spot on the doubles team, Delsol got a spot on the Second Team for singles spending almost the entire season in the topflight for the Runnin' Bulldogs. She had eight wins on the year and a 3-2 record against Big South opponents.
Elise Semmartin and Valeria Lloclla rounded out the honorees on the singles team as each scampered through league play with only one loss during 2023. Semmartin had the second-most wins on the team with nine and had five against conference opponents which led GWU from positions #4 and #5. Lloclla was 7-4 this year and was 4-1 in the Big South on courts #3 and #4.
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Saturday as they will face #2 Charleston Southern in the Semifinals of the 2023 Women's Tennis Big South Tournament at Marion Diehl Park in Charlotte, N.C.
