Men's and Women's Tennis Hosts Longwood for Senior Day on Tuesday Afternoon

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb hosts Longwood on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in both men's tennis and women's tennis. Before both matches, the teams will celebrate their seniors. The women's celebration will begin at 12:30 p.m. while the men's will be at 1:30 p.m.

During their times in Boiling Springs, both teams have qualified for every edition of the Big South Tournament. The men's team has taken the #3 seed in both seasons while the women's were #4 in 2021 and #3 in 2022. Last year, they picked up their first postseason win since 2016 and advanced to the finals of the event for the first time in school history.

Courtney Fyvie (Durbam, South Africa) joined Gardner-Webb in the fall of 2020 after spending a year at Tiffin University. In her three seasons in Boiling Springs, she has collected four wins in singles and doubles each. She has a career record of 2-3 against Big South opponents in both. This season she has been a regular part of the lineup picking up three doubles wins in competitions so far this year. Fyvie has paired up with three different players this year and has recently been on the #2 court with Maria Jardim.

Elise Semmartin (Fortenilles, France) became a member of the team in the fall of 2020 as well. She has collected 18 career wins and has been a consistent force in Big South matches. Over her three years, Semmartin is 8-2 in conference singles matches and 3-1 in doubles ones. She has had the match-clinching point in three matches over the last two seasons with a pair coming against conference competition. Ended the 2022 season by winning six of her final seven singles matches to be completed. This past March, she was selected as the conference's player of the week for the first time in her career.

Victor Putter (Pretoria, South Africa) enrolled in August of 2019 and became an instant contributor to the lineup as he played in the #2 and #3 flights for singles. One of his top seasons came in 2021 as he was selected First-Team All-Conference for Singles and Doubles as he played in the topflight in both. At one point during that season, he and Chrisjan Van Wyk had won nine consecutive doubles matches. He has been named the league player of the week twice, once in 2021 and 2022. He has been selected to the conference's All-Academic Teams in 2021 and 2022. Entering today's match he has 55 career victories, 25 in singles and 30 in doubles, including 15 total against Big South competition.

Connor Enslin (Perth, Australia) graduated from Gardner-Webb in December after a terrific 3.5-year run in Boiling Springs. In his career, he compiled 31 victories, 20 in singles and 11 in doubles. One of the top moments of his career came during the 2021 fall when he and Sebastian Harris made a run to the quarterfinals of the ITA Regional Championships. During the event, the duo won three matches in a row, knocking off a pair of seeded opponents in their run. He was named Second-Team All-Conference for doubles in 2022.
