The Runnin' Bulldogs took down Radford 4-2 in front of their home fans in the season finale Saturday.
 
It all got started in the second inning when Ella Christopher led off with a walk. Graduate Student Abbey Goodrum singled to right field and after a wild pitch runners moved to second and third. Senior Bridgette Strobl hit a sacrifice fly to left field and scored the game's first run.
 
In the bottom of the third, Adrienne Visintine sparked the offense with a single through the left side. Following an error and a pinch-run substitution, Visintine landed at third with Meredith Wayland at first. Wayland stole second and Christopher hit a sacrifice fly to increase the lead. Goodrum walked and Strobl reached on an error to load the bags with two outs for Kayleigh Nicholson. Nicholson singled to score Wayland and make it 3-0.
 
The Highlanders scored a run in the fourth to make it 3-1 and Gardner-Webb immediately responded.
 
Visintine hit a two-out single up the middle in the bottom of the fourth. Graduate student Kiara Kennedy hit a single and advanced on the throw. Visintine went to third on the play Kennedy's hit and Christopher followed up with her second RBI of the game. She singled to score Visintine and increase the lead to back to 3.
 
Down 4-1, Radford threatened to rally in the final inning. They scored a run and stranded another, but Andrea Lyon was able to shut the door on the comeback attempt.
 
The 'dogs tallied 11 hits in Game 3 Saturday. Kayleigh Nicholson was 3-3 with three singles and an RBI.  Abbey Goodrum was 2-2 with two singles and two walks. Adrienne Visintine added to her hot streak at the plate with 2 hits as well. Annicka McLaughlin had a single. Ella Christopher had a single and two RBIs. Kiara Kennedy and Kasey Fava both registered hits on their senior day, and Bridgette Strobl had the remaining RBI.
 
Andrea Lyon earned the win in a complete game effort where she held the Highlanders to just two earned runs.
 
Following the victory, Gardner-Webb Softball honored the campaigns of five of its graduating players: Abbey Goodrum, Alexa Key, Kasey Fava, Kiara Kennedy, and Bridgette Strobl.
