
Mark Chandler Picks Up Top-20 Finish at River Run Intercollegiate

DAVIDSON, N.C. - Mark Chandler recorded a four-over, 214 three-round score, as he finished tied for 19th at the River Run Intercollegiate on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
Chandler opened the week with an impressive one-under 69 in the first round on Monday, recording a birdie in three of the first four holes he played. The Chester, Nova Scotia native recorded a four-over, 74 in the second round, before finishing stroke with a one-over, 71 in the final round to move up seven spots in the rankings. The senior was superb on par fives, recording a four-under, 4.67 average score on the longest holes at the River Run Country Club, as did his teammate Max White.
As a team, the Runnin' Bulldogs finished tenth overall, carding a 30-over, 870 three-round score. The 'Dawgs finished above Appalachian State, Queens, Loyola Chicago, and Big South foe High Point in their first tournament of the fall. Gardner-Webb shot a six-over, 286 and a 16-over, 296 in the first two rounds, before carding an eight-over, 288 in the final round to move up two spots in the final rankings.
White finish tied for 28th after shooting a seven-over, 217 three-round score. White carded a one-over, 71 and a four-over, 74 in the first two rounds, before shooting a two-over, 72 in the final round to move up seven spots on the final day of play. His nine birdies led the Runnin' Bulldogs this week.
Jules Bondil finished tied for 36th with a ten-over, 220 three-round score. That mark is just two strokes off his 2022-23 season-best score of 218 that he recorded at the Wofford Invitational. Bondil shot a five-over 75 in the first round, but recovered nicely with a two-over, 72 and a three-over, 73 in the final two rounds to move up seven spots.
Jack Boyer finished tied for 48th after recording a 12-over, 222 three-round score. After carding a one-over, 71 in the first round, Boyer tallied a nine-over, 79 in the second round. The sophomore recovered nicely in the final round with a two-over, 72, moving up 16 spots in the final rankings.
George Goff finished tied for 70th, shooting three straight, six-over 76's, on the way to shooting an 18-over 228. Goff's 39 pars were the most of any Runnin' Bulldog.
Playing as an individual, Maddox Whittington finished tied for 65th, shooting a 16-over, 226 three-round score. Whittington was the best GWU golfer on par threes, shooting an even par, 3.00 average score on the shortest holes.
