First Big South female runner of the week honor in Gardner-Webb history
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced its weekly award winner for cross country on Wednesday afternoon with sophomore Jessica Perriello earning Female Runner of the Week. This is the first time Gardner-Webb has had a female runner be chosen for this Big South honor in the program's history.
Perriello finished Friday's Rooney Invitational 5k at 19:56, just one minute under her previous personal best set on November 29, 2022, at the Big South Championships.
The award is the first time a Runnin' Bulldog has won in the Big South and the first award earned since Michele Milner in 2006, when Gardner-Webb was a part of the ASUN Conference from 2002-07.
The Runnin' Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, Sep. 16 at Furman University at 9:10 a.m. for the women and a 10:00 a.m. start for the men.
