CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb has been voted second in the Big South's baseball preseason poll, the conference announced on Thursday. Additionally,
Alec Burns has been named to the very first Big South preseason all-conference team.
"Excitement is an understatement for the 2024 season!", said coach Chester. "Our players, coaches, and staff have worked tirelessly in preparation for opening day. Expect our club to be Selfless, Relentless, and Blue Collar for 56 games. Sko Dawgs!"
A graduate student infielder from Amherst, N.H., Burns enters his third season with the Runnin' Bulldogs. He's played in 99 games making 94 starts tallying 100 hits, 82 runs, and 82 RBI's.
Gardner-Webb will play 32 regular season home games in 2024. The Runnin' Bulldogs opens its season on Friday, February 16 vs. Appalachian State University at 4:00 pm in Bill Masters Field at John Henry Moss Stadium.
