Perriello and Leatherman Represent GWU at NCAA Division I Southeast Regionals

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Two members of the Gardner-Webb University cross country team were on hand to compete at the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional meet on Friday morning, with junior Jessica Perriello and freshman Emily Leatherman representing the Runnin' Bulldogs.
Perriello, a junior from Alpharetta, Ga. led the way for GWU with a time of 23:06, good enough to place No. 133 in the field of over 250 Division I athletes from across the region. Her finish was top ten among all Big South Conference athletes who competed on Friday morning, following up from the Big South Championships where Perriello was a Second Team All-Big South team member.
Leatherman, a freshman from Carlisle, Pa. competing in her first NCAA Regional, crossed the line with a time of 25:29. The first-year runner for Gardner-Webb smashed her previous personal best time in the women's 6k race, besting her PR by some 55 seconds.
Gardner-Webb now turns attention to Track and Field season, with the Runnin' Bulldogs opening the indoor person of the 2024-25 schedule on November 16th in Winston Salem, N.C.
