SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Gardner-Webb University volleyball team fell on the road to USC Upstate on Saturday afternoon, with the home-standing Spartans running out as 3-0 winners over GWU

Gardner-Webb dropped the first set 25-17, and was unable to recover from there as USC Upstate picked up a pair of 25-16 wins to finish off the match. Despite the final score, some good performances were mixed in for the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Sophomore outside hitter Cayton White continued a solid weekend with another game with double digit kills. White connected on 12 total for the game to lead Gardner-Webb and fell just one kill away from the most in the entire match for either side.

Freshman outside hitter Isabel Sandstrum also followed up a terrific performance on Friday with another game with double digit kills. Sandstrum connected on 10 for the game to go along with eight digs.

Meanwhile on the defensive end, sophomore libero Molly Littlefield again posted high numbers in the digs column where she entered the day in the top ten nationally. Littlefield recorded 19 digs for the game, the only Gardner-Webb player to record more than 10 and equal with the game-high.

Graduate middle Alivia Rew also helped lead Gardner-Webb defensively, recording three block assists and a pair of kills to get to 4.5 points in the game, while Rebecca Siedenburg also put fourth eight kills in the match.

The Runnin' Bulldogs now prepare for the final week of the 2024 regular season, taking on Winthrop next Thursday and Friday, November 14th and 15th.
