Cremin Helps Pace Runnin' Bulldogs in Big Day at Winston-Salem College Kickoff

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb University track and field team opened its indoor season proper on Saturday at JDL Fast Track, with sophomore Nathan Cremin setting a school record among a solid day for the Runnin' Bulldogs

Beginning with Cremin, the Limerick, Ireland native posted a school record time of 1:21.36 in the men's 600 meter event. Not only did Cremin post the highest mark ever for Gardner-Webb, but he also recorded one of the five best times for an Irish collegiate runner on his way to a first place run.

Elsewhere, junior Jada Pittman also placed within the Gardner-Webb record books. Pittman crossed the line in 7.69 seconds in her 60 meter prelim run, finishing third place and running a fourth best all-time pace for the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Fresh off a strong season in cross country, junior Jessica Perriello opened indoor track season in just as strong fashion. Perriello posted a time of 10:23.13 in the women's 3000 meter race for the third best time in Gardner-Webb history in the event. Freshman Megan Devanny joins Perriello in the GWU record books, scoring a 10th best ever time after crossing the line in 10:45.45

In the women's 600 meter, senior Alena Ivanov managed the second best time in Gardner-Webb history. Ivanov finished fourth place, but sprinted to a time of 1:42.06 to land in the GWU record books. Senior Isabella Castillo was just behind in seventh with a time of 1:43.66

In field events, sophomore Jonathan Timpson put together one of the best results of the entire day for Gardner-Webb. Timpson recorded a distance of 1.99 meters to take second place overall, and place third all-time in program history.

Over in the men's shot put, junior Quentin Peterson grabbed another first place finish for Gardner-Webb. Peterson put a distance of 17.08 meters to win the event and score fourth all-time among Runnin' Bulldogs in the event
