BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University softball team earned a pair of wins in hosting the first day of Red and Black Classic at Brinkley Stadium. The Runnin' Bulldogs earned a victory over Lindenwood University 9-1 via run rule, and a 4-3 win over Hampton University to close out the night.
Two innings in their first game GWU led Lindenwood 7-1 thanks to a run in the bottom of the first, and a six spot in the bottom of the second. Araceli Pasqueira,

Taylor Dreher and
Ella Christopher all tallied RBIs for the 'Dawgs in the frame. GEU went back to work in the top of the fifth inning as
Emily Garcia brought home
Annicka McLaughlin, and Andrenne Visintine singled to bring home Garcia ending the ballgame via run rule 9-1. Lyon picked up the win in the circle.
GWU then turned right around to play Hampton to end the day.
Kayleigh Nicholson scored two for GWU in the first inning singling to brin home Visintine and
Jailyn Tineo. The Pirates got a pair across in the second to tie the game 2-2. Gardner-Webb responded in the bottom frame as Vistintine drew a walk with the bases loaded tallying one, and Pesqueira flew out scoring Garcia.
Kalyn Kyle only allowed one run in the ninth as she earned the win in relief. The' Dawgs took the game 4-3.

The Runnin' Bulldogs return to the field this for day two of the Classic on Saturday, Feb. 24 hosting Lindenwood at 3:00 p.m., and Marist at 5:00 p.m.
