BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb University women's basketball defeated the Bulldogs of UNC Asheville on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 80-65. Three different 'Dawgs scoring double digits on GWU' way to a decisive win.
The Runnin' Bulldogs built up a 17-14 lead in the first 10 minutes of play. However, GWU really took control in the second half as
Ashley Hawkins and
Anaya Harris began to combine to put the Runnin' Bulldogs up by double digits. Gardner-Webb held a 16-point lead at the break. Gardner-Webb never looked back in the second half as the 'Dawgs by no less than 14 in the third quarter. The fourth was punctuated by
Kayla Martin,
Lauren Bailey, and
Micahla Funderburk as Gardner-Webb cruised to the 15-point victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Runnin' Bulldogs earned two straight wins for the first time this season, and their first time earning two straight Big South wins. Harris led GWU with 20 points, Hawkins tallied 19, and Bailey dropped 13.
