GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Gardner-Webb University softball team split a doubleheader with Furman University on Tuesday evening winning the first game 8-5 in 11 innings. The Paladins bested the Runnin' Bulldogs
Game one saw the Runnin' Bulldogs take a 2-0 lead in the first frame as
Ella Christopher singled to score
Andrea Lyon. The Paladins got two across in the second to tie things up.
Kayleigh Nicholson singled to score
Taylor Dreher in the fourth with Furman answered with a run themselves. The game entered extra innings getting all the way to the 10
th before GWU was able to take the lead on a fielders choice. With Furman tying things back up, the game made it to the 11
th where GWU took control with a four-run frame.

Emily Garcia, and Lyon all came home to score. The final was 8-5 in 11.
Game two saw the 'Dawgs put up a run in the first before Furman scored five runs in the bottom frame. GWU battled throughout with four 'Dawgs getting around to make the deficit 5-4.
Adrienne Visintine went on to homer in the fourth inning, the scoring ended there for Gardner-Webb. The winning streak ended at 12 games for the Runnin' Bulldogs as Furman took it 9-5. GWU still posts a 20-7 record on the year thus far.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will continue their road trip on March 13 at Clemson University at 6:00 p.m.
