Alizée Poulin (Beauceville, Quebec, Canada) was selected as the Big South Conference Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week.
The League announced the honor on Wednesday (3/20) which is for matches played March 11
th through March 17
th.
For the week, Poulin helped the Runnin' Bulldogs post a 2-1 record as she won all three of her singles matches, as well as two doubles matches to post a perfect 5-0 personal mark.
Last Monday, despite having only five healthy players, Gardner-Webb defeated Quinnipiac, 6-1.
In singles competition on Court No.2. Poulin (6-3, 6-1) prevailed over Vera Sekerina.
Gardner-Webb won a Big South match, 5-2, at Longwood last Thursday as the Dawgs clinched the doubles point on Court No.3 with graduate senior
Courtney Fyvie (Durbam, South Africa) and Poulin prevailing 6-3 over Sophia Marchetta and Nina Hederich.
In singles, Poulin (6-3, 6-2) prevailed over Phoebe Mitchell on Court No.3.
Last Saturday, once again competing with only five healthy players, Gardner-Webb fell (2-5) to a streaking North Carolina Central team, which won its third-straight match.
Poulin was one of the few bright spots for the Dawgs as she was a part of their lone doubles match victory on Court No.3 along with Fyvie. The duo prevailed 7-6 over Alejandra Hidalgo-Vega and Kennedy Hill.
Poulin won in No.2 Singles due to a retirement from Candice Bernier.
Gardner-Webb has won three of its last five matches.
