Gardner-Webb freshman Alizée Poulin Selected as the Big South Conference Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Week

Runnin' Bulldogs frosh unbeaten in singles and doubles matches during the week

Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb freshman Alizée Poulin (Beauceville, Quebec, Canada) was selected as the Big South Conference Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week.

The League announced the honor on Wednesday (3/20) which is for matches played March 11th through March 17th.

For the week, Poulin helped the Runnin' Bulldogs post a 2-1 record as she won all three of her singles matches, as well as two doubles matches to post a perfect 5-0 personal mark.

Last Monday, despite having only five healthy players, Gardner-Webb defeated Quinnipiac, 6-1.

In singles competition on Court No.2. Poulin (6-3, 6-1) prevailed over Vera Sekerina.

Gardner-Webb won a Big South match, 5-2, at Longwood last Thursday as the Dawgs clinched the doubles point on Court No.3 with graduate senior Courtney Fyvie (Durbam, South Africa) and Poulin prevailing 6-3 over Sophia Marchetta and Nina Hederich.

In singles, Poulin (6-3, 6-2) prevailed over Phoebe Mitchell on Court No.3.

Last Saturday, once again competing with only five healthy players, Gardner-Webb fell (2-5) to a streaking North Carolina Central team, which won its third-straight match.

Poulin was one of the few bright spots for the Dawgs as she was a part of their lone doubles match victory on Court No.3 along with Fyvie. The duo prevailed 7-6 over Alejandra Hidalgo-Vega and Kennedy Hill.

Poulin won in No.2 Singles due to a retirement from Candice Bernier.

Gardner-Webb has won three of its last five matches.
