Anderson Advances to Day 2 at NCAA Wrestling Championships

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After dropping his opening match, Gardner-Webb's Jha'Quan Anderson won his second match to advance to day two in the consolation bracket of the 184-pound weight class at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
 
In his first match of the day, Anderson lost by technical fall, 20-5 (6:29), to fourth-seeded Trey Munoz of Oregon State University. Anderson, who is competing at the national championships for the third time in his career, rebounded with a 9-6 victory over Binghamton University's Jacob Nolan in the night session.
 
Anderson will meet (19) James Conway of Franklin & Marshall College in his next consolation match on Friday, March 22.
 
Wrestling in the 141-pound weight class, senior Todd Carter went 0-2, concluding his season on day one of the championships. Carter lost his opening match by technical fall to top-seeded Jesse Mendez of Ohio State University (19-4, 5:31) and then fell by a narrow 8-6 decision to Dylan Chappell of Bucknell University in the consolation bracket.
