BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb University wrestling team returned to the mats inside Paul Porter Arena for its 2025 Southern Conference opener on Friday night, falling by a final score of 31-9 to visiting Campbell

The Runnin' Bulldogs scored three individual victories on the night, picking up points in the 133 pound class, 149 pounds, and lastly in the 184 pound division. Junior Tyson Lane was among the most impressive performers for GWU on Friday night, notching a 13-8 decision over Domenic Zaccone of Campbell at 133 pounds. Freshman Jackson Potts also shined in his Southern Conference debut, scoring a 13-9 decision over Logan Heckert of Campbell at 184 pounds.

Gardner-Webb is back in action on January 26th in more SoCon action, as the 'Dawgs travel to Davidson at 2 p.m.
