Runnin' Bulldogs Wrap Up Day One of Weekend Competition at UNC Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb swimming team returned to the pool on Friday afternoon, competing in the first day of a two-day meet at UNC Wilmington

One of the best runs of the day for GWU comes in the women's 400-yard medley relay. The quartet of junior Slawka Ndubuisi, sophomore Dakota Townley, senior Hannah Routh, and freshman Madison Richardson landed on the podium, taking third with a time of 3:51.70

The 400-yard medley relay was solid for Gardner-Webb as well, with a second place run. Junior Carter Redelman, senior Justin Bender, sophomore Augustin Orechia, and sophomore Manuel Brandner combined to touch the wall in 3:20.73

Gardner-Webb saw two athletes finish under a school record time in the men's 1000-yard freestyle, even scoring a win in the process. Freshman Victor Cury scored top spot in the event in one of his first races for Gardner-Webb with a time of 9:21.15, while GWU teammate sophomore Santiago Alcantara placed third in 9:26.78. Another Runnin' Bulldog placed fourth, with junior Luke Weber turning in a time of 9:36.10
