ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's soccer team (3-7-3, 2-1-2 Big South) notched its fourth straight shutout on Wednesday night, fighting to a nil-nil draw at UNC Asheville (5-6-3, 1-2-2 Big South)
Despite the final score, it wasn't a match without chances for both sides, with both UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb striking the post once, and both goalkeepers called on to make several key saves. Total shots finished 12-12, with GWU just in front 6-4 in shots on target
Senior goalkeeper
Savannah Dixon had several key moments, most in the second half. The Raleigh, N.C. native made five of her six saves after halftime, including on an audacious effort from the center line when UNC Asheville opened the second 45. Dixon made another brilliant save a little over a minute later.
The best chances of the night for Gardner-Webb seemed to all come in a series of late scrambles. First in the 80th minute, freshman defender
Noor Reslan connected on a corner that landed in the hands of UNC Asheville goalkeeper Gracie Murray.
In the 83rd minute, junior forward
Olivia Tribolet slipped behind the defense and forced a top drawer save out of Murray. The ensuing corner kick fell to senior defender
Camila Lezcano who was turned away by a sprawling save inside the six yard box
Freshman forward
Julia McBride also got off a shot from distance in the 86th minute but once again, the Runnin' Bulldogs were unable to kick down the door and find a late winner
One last effort from distance from UNC Asheville missed in the 89th minute, as the contest finished in a nil-nil draw. With the result, Gardner-Webb has now kept four consecutive shutouts for the first time in the program's NCAA Division I era

Dixon continues an excellent run in conference play with 90 minutes in goal and six saves, Lezcano finished with a team-high four shots in 90 minutes, while McBride led the substitutes with two shots, both on target, in 28 minutes played
