SERIES NOTES VS PRESBYTERIAN
- Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian have met at least once per season since 2006, and twice per season uninterrupted since 2008
- The Runnin' Bulldogs won the first four in the series from 2006 to 2008, before PC ran off eight straight wins from 2009 to 2012
- The series has been more closely contested in recent years, with the Blue Hose winning each match in 2024, following home wins in 2022 and 2023 for the Runnin' Bulldogs
- Gardner-Webb enters the weekend in search of its first win in Clinton since 2016
- The Runnin' Bulldogs have four road wins in the series, 2006, 2008, 2014 and 2016
SERIES NOTES VS CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
- Charleston and Southern met twice before GWU made its move to the Big South, splitting contests in 2005 and 2006
- The two sides again split last season, with Charleston Southern winning 3-0 in Boiling Springs and the Runnin' Bulldogs victorious 3-1 in the Buc Dome
- Gardner-Webb had previously won four in a row in the series between 2022 and the start of 2024
- The Runnin' Bulldogs have faired well on the road against CSU with a 7-9 all-time record and three straight wins, posting wins in 2006, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2022, 2023 and 2024
GARDNER-WEBB NOTES
- Gardner-Webb is led on the attack by a freshman and two sophomores. Freshman outside hitter Haedyn Crumbley has a team-high 142 kills, followed by sophomore outside hitter Samia Sayd with 129, and sophomore outside hitter Isabel Sandstrum with 106
- In the assist column, sophomore setter Olivia Lefebvre leads the way for GWU with 395, and over 5.3 per set. Lefebvre has posted five straight career games with 30 against Winthrop, 29 against Radford and 39 against High Point, 23 against UNC Asheville and 28 against USC Upstate to place fourth in the conference with 149 since league play began
- Junior middle Milla Lugo is fourth in the Big South Conference in hitting percentage through five games, with 44 kills at a tune of .347%. Lugo is also fourth in the league in total blocks since the start of conference play with 21
- Lugo has also just passed a career milestone, moving over 100 blocks for both her college career and Gardner-Webb career back in September
- On the defensive end, graduate libero Nalani McBride has been excellent, with 405 digs and 5.4 digs per set this season. McBride enters the weekend third nationally in digs per set and is second in the nation in total digs
- McBride is another Runnin' Bulldogs player who has reached a career milestone this season as well, recording her 800th dig between GWU and Temple three weeks ago at Winthrop
- Among a team of mostly freshman and sophomores, freshman right side Sarina Galyean has seen some excellent play for GWU, with 62 total kills including 12 against Marshall and 10 against Queens in consecutive games
- Other newcomers to the team include redshirt freshman right side Alexis Maesch, who has standout games this season against Campbell with 12 kills and a .241% hitting percentage, and Northern Arizona where she hit .357% and recorded seven kills
- As a team, Gardner-Webb ranks first in the Big South in several key categories, with 897 kills, 42 solo blocks, 118 service aces, and 1323 digs
- Gardner-Webb will aim for its 9th and 10th wins over the weekend, hoping to archive double-digit wins for the first time in the Alex Hinsey era, after already surpassing last season's win total a couple weeks ago
