NORFOLK, VA - The Gardner-Webb women's swimming scored an overall win against Old Dominion across Friday and Saturday in the pool, headlining a strong individual and overall weekend in the pool for the Runnin' Bulldogs

The first strong individual run for the GWU women came via freshman
Jenna Valentine in the women's 200 yard free. Valentine took the top spot with a blistering time of 1:52.30 with a 26.21 second first split. Valentine later went on to also win the women's 200 yard fly, doing so in 2:03, and was scored in second in the women's 100 yard free in 52.64 seconds, as well as the women's 100 yard fly in 56.51 seconds
On the men's side, sophomore
Santiago Alcantara and junior
Luke Weber went one-two for Gardner-Webb in the men's 1650 yard free. Alcantara won the event in 15:53, with teammate Weber in second with a time of 16:07. Alcantara also picked up a win in the men's 200 yard fly later on, just ahead of GWU teammate
Alex Cook, with the two recording times of 1:50 and 1:52 back to back
En route to a team overall win, junior
Slawka Ndubuisi nabbed a win for the Gardner-Webb women in the women's 100 yard backstroke. Ndubuisi was excellent, just inching out a win by .04 seconds with a time of 56.68 with a 27.48 first lap split. She'd later go on to win the women's 100 yard free in 52.05 seconds and the women's 50 yard backstroke in 26,77 seconds
GWU took first and third in the women's 50 yard fly. Sophomore
Jillian Hawkins captured the win in 25.74 seconds, while teammate senior
Hannah Routh was third in 26.05 seconds. Hawkins and Routh also each took part with Valentine in the women's 100 yard fly, with the trio finishing 1-2-3, Valentine as previously mentioned in 56.51 seconds, Routh second in 56.86 seconds, and Hawkins third in 57.29 seconds
Junior
Carter Redelman led another one-two for Gardner-Webb, this time with teammate sophomore Augustin Orechia in the men's 100 yard backstroke. Redelman won the event in 50.01 seconds, while Orechia was just behind in second in 50.58 seconds
Sophomore
Dakota Townley picked up where she left off last weekend for the Runnin' Bulldogs, scoring another win in the women's 50 yard breaststroke. Townley touched the wall in 29.76 seconds, before later winning the women's 200 yard breaststroke in 2:20 with a lightning fast 31.10 first split. To add to the success of the Gardner-Webb women, Townley was als second in the women's 100 yard breaststroke in 1:04.01
