Savannah Dixon of the Gardner-Webb women's soccer team has been named Big South Defensive Player of The Week for the fourth time this season, following a shutout at UNC Asheville and a shutout and career-best game at USC Upstate
Overall, the Raleigh, N.C. native made 15 saves across the two games for Gardner-Webb, with four to earn a nin-nil draw at UNC Asheville on Wednesday, before then recording a career and season high 11 saves in a 1-0 win at USC Upstate on Saturday night. Furthermore, to preserve the win at USC Upstate, Dixon also made a second half penalty save and three saves inside the final 10 minutes of the contest.
Dixon has helped lead the Runnin' Bulldogs to a program NCAA Division I era record five shutouts in a row, hasn't conceded a goal in over 450 minutes and counting, has let in just one goal total in Big South play, and has saved her last 33 shots on goal faced in a row dating back to Gardner-Webb's conference opener at Longwood in September.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will look to continue the aforementioned shutout streak and make it six games in a row unbeaten on Wednesday afternoon, October 22nd, when Gardner-Webb returns to the pitch at home against VMI at 4 pm
